I have a confession: I have been chasing the fog in Dead by Daylight since the early 2010s, and in 2026, the rumor mill once again started humming like a fluorescent bulb in a morgue. Word of a possible The Conjuring chapter has resurfaced, and my survivor main brain immediately began shuffling through every nun, doll, and demon-adjacent face I could remember. The Entity’s realm feels like a rusted music box that keeps playing a melody only the hooks can hear, so adding the Warrens’ world to it would be a natural, terrifying fit.
When it comes to horror series with iconic characters to join Dead by Daylight, The Conjuring might not be the first franchise that comes to mind for most players. The films are more about creeping dread than slasher body counts. But if you look beyond the main trilogy into the extended universe, the list of monsters, demons, and killers is surprisingly large. The same goes for regular people who could join as a survivor and run from generator to generator with me, trying not to end up on a hook.
One candidate I keep circling is Sister Charlotte from Annabelle: Creation. Not to be confused with Valak, the demon nun from The Conjuring 2, Sister Charlotte acts as one of the primary protagonists in the highest-rated film starring the possessed doll. In that movie, she is an uncorrupted woman of faith forced into a terrible situation, which would make her a striking visual and thematic addition to the fog. If the killer turned out to be Annabelle, Charlotte would be a strong counterpoint. Guesswork spread through the community like condensation on a cold basement mirror, because her design could work whether the killer is Annabelle or Valak. However, there is a problem: the younger protagonist Janice, while thematically powerful, has a medical situation that would make her a difficult survivor to implement without feeling exploitative.
Yet, as much as I would love to see Sister Charlotte get another moment in the spotlight, my heart keeps pulling me toward the obvious choice: Lorraine Warren. She is the central figurehead of the entire The Conjuring series. In a perfect world, Behaviour Interactive could take a similar approach to the Stranger Things crossover in Dead by Daylight, which brought two new survivors in a single chapter. That would mean giving us both Lorraine Warren and her husband Ed Warren, the perspective characters and spiritual guides across the three main films. The Warrens belong in the fog the way a tuned exorcism belongs in a house of endless screams—two people who spent their lives walking into haunted spaces and now must run through an infinite one.
If I could choose only one, it would absolutely be Lorraine. Many of my survivor lobbies have been filled with final girls and ordinary heroes, but Lorraine offers something rare: a figure who does not rely on a weapon or a curse, only on faith, empathy, and a stubborn refusal to look away. Imagine her cosmetics pulling from Vera Farmiga’s film wardrobe, her voice lines soaked in gentle warnings, and her perks leaning into aura reading or protection. She would feel like a candle that refuses to gutter out in a blizzard of malevolent static. That is not a common archetype in Dead by Daylight, and it would set her apart from characters like Mikaela Reid, who channels folk magic, or Laurie Strode, who survives through sheer will.
The design should absolutely draw from the fictionalized versions of the Warrens portrayed by Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson. Delving into the real-life versions would be off-putting, especially because they would be added post-mortem, and the ethics of that would taste wrong. The films give us enough material: Ed’s protective stance, Lorraine’s clairvoyant trances, and the shared chemistry that made three movies feel like a long, slow exorcism. I can already picture the lobby: Ed with a leather jacket and a recorder, Lorraine with a cross necklace and a look that sees too much.
Ultimately, if a new chapter centered around The Conjuring arrives in 2026, there is no one better than the Warrens. Sister Charlotte is a fine echo, but the main melody belongs to Lorraine. I will keep repairing generators in the fog, waiting for a chapter that feels less like a rumor and more like a door creaking open in the basement.
